SbuNoah has once again proven why he remains a standout figure in the South African gospel music scene. At the 17th Crown Gospel Music Awards, held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, SbuNoah was honored with the prestigious Best Gospel Album award for his heartfelt and meticulously crafted album, Heavenly Psalms.
The award comes as a significant milestone in SbuNoah’s illustrious career, which continues to be marked by his ability to create music that resonates deeply with audiences. Speaking after his win, SbuNoah shared his gratitude and reflections:
“It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m a Crown Gospel Music Award winner! I went into the event with 0 expectations, honestly, especially considering the incredible artists I was nominated alongside. When my name was called, I was shocked. Then so many emotions came flooding in—it was overwhelming. I wished my Mom was here to see this milestone! I also wished the late Mom Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule was here to witness this incredible moment. But more than anything, I’m grateful. The sacrifices we make to produce top-quality music are not only seen but appreciated.”
SbuNoah, known for his commitment to excellence, poured his heart and soul into Heavenly Psalms, which has quickly become a fan favorite. From the powerful production led by Siyanqoba Mthethwa to the seamless execution by his talented team, every aspect of the album reflects dedication and artistry.
SbuNoah didn’t hold back his appreciation for those who played a role in his journey. He extended heartfelt thanks to God, his executive producers Dr. Lindelani Mkhize and Dr. Makho Ngcobo, his project manager Nwabisa Meth, and his entire production team. He also acknowledged his record label partnerships with Contento and Sony Music, as well as the unwavering support from his church, City of Zion, his Pastor Tim Grage and his Joyous Celebration family.
“To all the radio stations, TV and print media, churches, and event organizers—thank you for making this journey a little easier. To my amazing fans, thank you for walking this journey with me; I love and appreciate you all,” SbuNoah added.
SbuNoah also paid homage to the late Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, the visionary founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, whose legacy lives on through the continued efforts of the World Gospel Powerhouse.
“A huge thank you to World Gospel Powerhouse, Pastor Nkambule, and the whole team for keeping Mom Zanele’s legacy alive. You outdid yourselves. This award is not just for me; it’s for everyone who believes in the power of gospel music to inspire and transform.”
In his closing remarks, SbuNoah encouraged his peers to continue pursuing excellence in their ministry through music.
“To all the nominees at this year’s Crowns, congratulations! Let’s continue to ‘go yee into the world preaching the gospel’ through music. Let’s do it with excellence, for we serve an excellent God. To Him be the glory. Amen.”
