ZODWA MAHLANGU’S JOURNEY AFTER FALLING SHORT ON HER FIRST JOYOUS CELEBRATION AUDITION

Ntombizodwa Mahlangu, a proud native of Embalenhle, South Africa, embodies a life deeply rooted in music and faith. From her early days at Embalenhle Primary School to her musical education at Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), where she studied music, Ntombizodwa has been honing her musical talents from a young age. As a devoted mother of three boys and happily married to Mr. Malefane for a decade, she balances her roles as a family woman, servant of God, and a passionate musician.

Her musical journey began at the tender age of 3, encouraged and supported by her parents, especially her father who played a pivotal role in her early career endeavors. Inspired by legendary artists such as Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope, and Whitney Houston, Ntombizodwa found her voice early on, participating in her first competition at just 5 years old, marking the beginning of her musical odyssey.

Her sister recognized her talent and informed her about the Joyous Celebration auditions while she was studying music at TUT. During her first attempt, she faced a setback as her voice cracked, but undeterred, she returned in 2004 and successfully secured her place in Joyous Celebration. This marked the beginning of a journey of self-discovery within the group, requiring discipline and adaptation to different roles. One of her most memorable experiences was being asked to lead a solo for the first time, a milestone that solidified her presence in the music industry. Leading solos and navigating the dynamics of group performances, she gained invaluable experience that shaped her career.

Transitioning from Joyous Celebration, Ntombizodwa faced the challenge of establishing herself as a solo artist, navigating the complexities of the music business and financing her own projects. Her journey was not just about musical growth but also personal transformation, including a significant weight loss journey driven by a desire for change and newfound confidence in her solo career.

Her debut album, "Product of Grace," is a testament to her resilience and faith. Featuring collaborations with Jabu "Craizy Praise" and Ps Vusi Mkwane, and produced by Nqubeko Mbatha, the album showcases her soulful songwriting and powerful vocals. Despite financial challenges, she persevered, funding the album largely from her household savings.

Throughout her career, Ntombizodwa has found strength in her faith, supported by her husband, late mother, and influential figures in the gospel music industry such as Ps Jabu Hlongwane, Ps Mthunzi Namba, Ntokozo Mbambo, Bab Sipho Makhabane and Ps Benjamin Dube.

Currently, Ntombizodwa is gearing up for "The Home Coming," a special event in Embalenhle where she aims to inspire local aspiring artists and share new music that reflects her spiritual journey. Collaborating with Putuma Tiso, Pretty Mhlongo, and Minister Zandile Motshweneg, the event promises an uplifting experience and a divine encounter for all attendees.

To her supporters and fans, Ntombizodwa expresses heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering love, encouragement, and prayers throughout her musical journey.
